Blog: Social networking sites



For this post, I chose to compare the following four platforms as I think they are the most popular: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat. The common between all the above is that they are meant to enable people to communicate instantly and to allow them to meet new people easily or to connect with people they already know and share content with them. 
Facebook is the platform I use the most because it was the first one I had and I am used to it. Facebook has an option called "people you may know" so it enables people to connect with their friends. It also has a messenger- an instant chat that enables us to communicate with people through text and share content. Facebook also enable us to keep up with our friend's lives through their wall, they can share pictures, videos and posts there on a daily basis.

Instagram is the second most used social media platform by me. I feel like Instagram is meant for sharing mostly pictures and videos and less for posts and more meaningful things. It also has a chat option with the people you follow. I think that the story is the most common thing that people use on Instagram because it enables you to watch instant pictures or videos from people's routines and helps you keep up with people on an instant basis. It can be very addicting as the content shared on Instagram is very professional and appealing and can be edited with filters and etc.

Twitter is a platform that I only recently started to use, I've heard about it a lot before but didn't really have the time to invest in another social media. I think it is very similar to Facebook because it has the same "wall" that you can scroll through and watch twits of the people you follow. I don't like the fact that there is a limitation of 250 words in every twit. On Facebook or Instagram, there is no limit so I feel like they need to change it in order to keep up with other platform's innovations. 

Snapchat is another platform I got familiar with recently and to be honest I deleted it because I felt like it was very boring. In Snapchat you can watch other people's snaps, and to keep up with your friends, in a similar way to any other social media platform. I noticed it has a lot of features and it got me very confused. 

I think that Facebook and Instagram are the most used today, I use these two the most and I think they are very easy to use and serves my needs personally from a social media.
