Blog about Twitter


The recent discussion on Twitter our class had was the first one I had on Twitter and I found it very interesting that we all had to use the hashtag #CIS3810NET1 as I never used it before. After I clicked on that hashtag I was able to read everyone's posts related to the same topic and I think that's a great feature. I think that the fact that there is a limitation to 250 words in every post is not so great as in blackboard discussions there is no limitation. I did like the fact that we could retweet to each other and I felt like it was a more instant discussion in comparing to a discussion on the blackboard.
In-class discussion is completely different than the first two because it enables to engage with each other instantly and in person. I also feel that personal communication is the best way to communicate because you can get a lot of people's thoughts and feelings from their body language and the way they choose to express themselves verbally. Comparing to Twitter, obviously that in in-class discussion there is no word limitation and everyone can easily express their opinions.

Blog v Wiki

Blogs are generally more subjective and are written from the authors perspective. The content that is usually shared on it is personal, verses Wikis that are a more formal version of a blog where everyone can edit it and add content to it. Therefore, both the information we get from Blogs and from Wikis is subjective and we don't know how reliable it is. These days Wikis can be more relevant because the information we have on almost any subject in the world is constantly changing and being able to edit that information helps keep it updated and relevant, for example- Wikipedia.  It is easy to collaborate with other people both using blogs and wikis because people can get involved, comment on posts, and contribute to the content.
